Russia Doll Beaded Needle Case

Finally finished my Russian beaded needle case which I offered a sneak peek before!! This needle case is based on a project made by SianNolan with some slight modifications. SianNolan's doll looks blissfully asleep, but I wanted my doll to look alert and happy so I made her eyes curve upwards instead of downwards.

When I reached the middle of this project, it felt like it would never end T.T......Especially when I had to undo some of my mistakes.

Plus, I had to make 2 extra trips to the local bead shop because I bought the wrong colour beads. And I was shocked to find out that the gold miyuki delica beads cost $10 for 4grams!?

But, I bit the bullet and bought the gold beads. I decided that I might as well buy the best beads since I am spending so much time on this project and I will keep this needle case for many years to come. It turned out to be worth it because the gold beads provide such an attractive contrast against the other beads.

New Beaded Needle Case

A sneak peak of the second needle case which I am working on :P
It will take some time because it is a more complicated pattern than the first, but I am very excited about it.

Classic White Crystal Necklace

I noticed that I have been making alot of beaded figurines, so it's time for more jewellery. It took 3 attempts to get this necklace right. The first time I made it too short. The second time was good, but I missed out one crystal bead. The third time was finally perfect!

The best thing about beading is that if you ever make mistakes, you can always cut away the thread and redo it. You just need more patience. And I am learning to be more patient as I bead.

Another detailed shot of my necklace:

Colourful Stars

I made these colourful stars to thank my friends for helping me with a school project.

I usually put these ornaments on handphone straps because you can hang them on your phone or bag. It is more versatile than using a solid keychain.

Beaded Needle Case: Tutorial Links Below

It took 2 days, but I finally finished my beaded needle case. It requires peyote stitching which was not difficult to grasp, but rather tedious. But, I think that the final product is worth it!

Here's a picture of the original wooden needle case, which I bought from korasw on ebay

I learn how to make this from a series of youtube videos created by Beth Murr. Her videos are simple and easy to understand which is great for beginners.

New beading companion: Little Pup

Now that I have given Tink & Ickle away. It's time for a new beading companion, Cookie. Isn't he adorable? :)

Simple beaded birds

One of my first projects:  meet my beading companions, Tink & Ickle.  They are very popular with my friends, and I have already given them away. But, they are relatively easy to make so I am sure that I will be making more of these beautiful birds.
